Pat: I think that was the first song the Raybeats ever wrote together. It was actually started by Jody, George and Don just before I joined the group. It had a different title then, but after George died we decided to call it “Big Black Sneakers” in memory of him.
Don: George always wore these big black Converse sneakers. When we were still playing with the Contortions, James bought us some jackets to get us to look half-way decent, and he’d get mad at George because he’d always show up wearing those damn sneakers.
